April Tag

This is the first time I have entered the Tim Holtz 12 tags..but after seeing the board my lovely friend Kirsten did...I thought I'm going to have a go at this!! I absolutely love the new frameworks dies and knew I'd be buying them the minute I saw them on the CHA previews!! You can pop over and see Kirstens here. So off I went to Tim's blog..and wow what a lovely tag!! You can see it here.
Seeing as I was short on time (what's new) I followed along with what Tim did. I don't have the pine cone die so used my mini tattered flowers and leaves instead.

I Absoloutely loved doing this tag and it gave me a chance to use one of my frameworks!! Just have to wait for the rest of the great new releases to hit the UK!!..

I followed along with Jo so won't bore you with a step by step as you can see Jo's here. I didn't have the stamps she used so did mine with images from LP27 and LP28.

Mix It Up!!

We have had a wonderful week over on the Paper Artsy Blog this week!! On wednesday I had quite a shock when my friend Sam appeared with a beautiful oriental tag!! Not that her work isn't good enough but she kept it very quiet the dark horse!! You can see Sam's tag here. I was working all week and didn't have much time to play and then another friend appeared! Lin Brown..(who is also a designer of some lovely stamps!) You can see Lin's piece here..Well I loved them both so the only thing to do was mix it up and take inspiration from both clever ladies!!

I loved the way Lin had used washi tape to form the base for her background and then stenciled in snowflake so I followed along with that. I also loved the way Sam had used the corrugated (love this stuff!) for her tag..so I followed along with that..I hadn't used my Lynn Perella oriental stamps for a while so enjoyed making this tag a lot!! The image is mounted on a tattered florals flower and them onto the torn card with a bit of crunchy wax paper behind it.Sam has a great technique of cutting a butterfly and mounting over the girls face..it looks great. As I don't have that die I cut a small tag and did the same thing...very effective. The sentiment is from Lin's ELB04 plate..
Thank you for the inspiration girls!!

A Captured Fairy

Ages ago these little captured fairies (in a jar) were very popular. I made some for a couple of friends..One in particular was for a friends little girl who was having trouble sleeping due to them living near to cemetry..We made up a little story about the fairy being there to make sure she wasn't frightened...and she mustn't open the jar and let her out...she was absolutely thrilled with it!! Her fairy was a lot cuter than the one in this jar....

This one I started for another friend....but got left unfinished on the shelf for about ...oh must be over a year!! oh dear that's really bad..so when Anita told us about the challenge over on Arty Inklings I thought i would finish it and enter it into the challenge here...

It started life as a jar of pickles I believe..using a hot glue gun I placed the reindeer moss into the bottom and added some twigs from the garden, and some paper flowers. I cut out the image which I downloaded from the internet and placed her into the jar too.

I stuck old book pages on the back of the jar and gave them a wash with fresco's acrylic paint. Stuck some lace around the top and loads of flowers. The one on the top is tattered florals from Tim Holtz. I also added some fine netting and cut a tag.

On the tag you usually name the fairy..and where she was found...also a little story about her..should you wish...

Tealight Jar

Alison bomber did a really pretty little jar this week over on the paper artsy blog..you can pop over and see it here...so after all the housework was done (sorry for swearing) lol..I had a little play and came up with this.....

Try as I might I couldn't get a good picture. the paint is a lot more translucent than it looks here. I used pea coat (the older translucent one) chatreuse and beach hut frescos..just followed along with what Alison did..and stamped the houses from Lynn Perella 012....I didn't add string as it won't be a hanging it will be sitting in my work shop with a nice smelly candle..

Reflections..

Some time ago I bought a little book from paper chase..with blank craft paper pages. I use it to jot stuff down (craft related of course) verses/quotes etc that catch my eye...So when Jofy used her masterboard to decorate the front of a book I thought why not?? So out came the masterboard ready to be cut up!! you can see Jo's here..

So do you remeber this......

Well I followed along with what Jo did...more or less and now I have this......

Ally Pally Inspiration...

I had a great time as usual at Ally Pally last weekend...met up with some of the patwits and stalked the paper artsy stand where Lin and Leandra were demoing on saturday and Leandra and Emma on sunday.

Saturday was very busy and as Leandra was ultra busy she took and inpromtu break and Jo Myhill took over the demo for a while...she started a tag (which I can't show you just yet as Leandra hasn't taken a piccie yet) then Leandra finished it on the sunday....turned out beautiful!! excellent team effort!!

Well my next piece was inspired by that tag..a little bit Finn like if you know what I mean. So as I had a spare hour or so before work yesterday I had a play and this is the result...

I played about with a size 8 tag..using grunge paste, blood orange and tango frescos, flowers, lace and some corrugated cardboard and treasure gold

Hanging Board..without the hanging

Hello all..well it's Good Friday so Happy Easter to you!! for all of you lucky enough to be having a nice long weekend I hope you have a lovey time, and to all you (including me) who have to  work....well what can I say :(

I had a chance to pop into my shed before work today to have a go at the Paper Artsy challenge before 4.58 on Sunday which is usually when I get mine finished!! (yes Lucy I am early this week lol).

We have a new guest this week Deb Freeman...so welcome Deb! Her first project was a gorgeous hanging board which you can see here. beautiful colours and depth. Well I intended to do a board very similar with a birdie but got side tracked!!

I started off with Leandra's corner corner middle technique using Lake Wanaka and Tinned Peas frescos, then aded in Beach Hut and Limelight to give it a bit of a lift. I stamped the swirl from HP1005 in leaf green archival...love that colour!!

I stamped one of my new stamps from AP onto white card and gave it a wash of beach hut...stuck it onto the hanging. I used grunge paste to stencil randomly.I wanted to get the image to melt into the board but didn't quite achieve that...I coloured the grunge using all the paints I had used as a base, just adding the different colours until I was happy with it..stamped the script stampp from LP28 in french ultrmarine archival randomly.

Next I added some smoked paprika and a tiny bit of eggplant with my finger...just a touch to break up the colours. The 'Art' is torn from a word stamp..'Artist' another buy from AP..Then treasure gold!! I used a very small amount of special edition number 5 to lightly brush over the raised areas....and lastly a tiny bit of south pacific around the edges to draw the eye in..

I am off to get ready for work now...but happier that I got to play before I went :D

Inspired by Michelle and challenged by Emma

I will fill you in on this little book when I have posted the piccies...

*Edit* I was very busy this weekend going to Ally Pally..so didn't have much time to craft. So when I got home today I had to finish the second piece of a challenge from Emma and also an entry for the Paper Artsy challenge. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone. I loved the little book that Michelle made this week, so decided to do a meander book with some of the new Chatsworth papers. And to go along with Emma's challenge I put the Mona Lisa tissue on the cover!!

Challenged by Emma

Good morning all...this is going to be a super speedy post!! Last weekend I went off to Paris with three lovely friends to  Version Scrap!! We had a great time..I will blog about it later and link you to the other's blogs to see all the lovely piccies of our trip!!

When we got home Emma challenged us to make 2 pieces...one using our new stash, nd one using some tissues we bought (tell you about that later).Well I am about to dash off for round two at Ally Pally so I have only managed one so far.....we have until 5 this evening...

Here's my first piece..a journal page using some lovely new inks from a French company and an ATC out of a pack from Paoaer Artsy...
