A scrapbook page

This week over on the paper artsy blog we have another new GD called Pam Thorburn. she has done some beautiful scrapbook pages which you can pop over and see here

Her pages inspired me to have a go at scrapping one of the few piccies I have of my two children together....

I really enjoyed doing this page and it brought back some wonderfull memories....

Inspiration from Julie Ann Lee

Over on the paper artsy blog this week we welcomed our friend and fellow #patwit Julie Anne Lee. I love her oldy worldy vintage kind of crafting and she didn't let us down with her first project 'a casket'. Pop over here and have a looksie...it's gorgeous.

I had a little box I had got from Leandra at Ally Pally in september to put some embellishments in...but it was too small (or I have too many embellishments!! I more or less followed along with what Julie Ann did so won't go into a step by step..

So here we are.......first up the lid....I used a mixture of blush,haystack,egg plant and claret frescos. I added florentine and brass treasure gold to the finished piece.

Paper Artsy Christmas Cracker

Hello lovely blog followers!! hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and that you all have your Christmas trees and decs down by today..and that means you Leandra lol!!

Leandra did 3 lovely pieces on her blog in the last few days and for each challenge there is a prize of some A5 brand spanking new 2014 stamps and some limited edition paints..well if that's not a good enough reason to enter I don't know what is!!

Video 3 was called painted clusters..a Finn style piece with fresco paints..my favorite!! Didn't have time to do all three so chose this challenge.... I absolutely love this technique so pop over and have a look here.

I followed along with what Leandra did so won't bore you with all the details you should go over and watch the video,step by step I am so glad I bought some heavy duty gel medium though as it makes it so much easier to get everything to stick.

This is the finished piece using honey dew,guacamole,sage,crushed olives and holly frescos and olive bronze and brass treasure gold.

Halloween..a challenge by Liz Borer

This week over on the Paper Artsy blog we have Liz Borer showing us some amazing projects. This one was inspired by Liz here. I don't have any Halloween stamps so had to go with what I had...

I couldn't find my new tub of grunge paste (found it now phew) so I used puff paint to write trick and treat on a piece of an old box. Most of what I did I followed along with Liz..using haystack..smoked paprika..claret and eggplant frescos. I stenciled some branches with my newly found grunge paste.

I cut the cat and raven from my movers and shapers die in black card and coated them with gloss glaze. the witches face is a Lynn Perella stamp from LP008 stamped onto crackly tissue and put onto a paper artsy paper head and cut to size..I made the hat and painted it black and added some glitter. I also used the bat wings from Eclectic 6. and jewels for the body. I stamped some script randomly and stuck everything down Lastly I went over the lettering with white fire TG and here it is...

Canvas inspired by Alison

Two posts in two days!! wow...Seemed to get a wee bit more time to myself this week and the weekend off as well. Alison Bomber did some lovely work this week over on the Paper Artsy blog you really should pop over and have a look here

This one was inspired by day 2...  I just used a 5x7 canvas and followed along with what Alison did.


 At the end of September some of us patwits got together for a two day class with Lin Brown up in Potterpury..well that is another blog post and coming soon I promise!! Well the naughty girls presented me with a lovely set of stamps by Darcy because I did a bit of organizing..so I decided to use them on my canvas and here it is...

Inspired by Jo Myhill

This week over on the Paper Artsy blog we have had some lovely projects from Jo, one of the new GD over on the blog. She has done some lovely projects, you really should pop over and see them here. I absolutely loved all three projects but had hardly any spare time this week.

Last weekend a group of #patwits and myself had a great weekend of classes with the very talented Lin Brown....but that's another blog post..watch this space lol! Sam Emma and I went into the local garden center to get some flowers and came across some very inexpensive little wooden boxes. Wow great for bellies we thought so seeing as they only had three there we got one each. So here is mine inspired by Jo...

I started by painting the whole box in snowflake frescos...at first it was painted in all shades of browns and black but I didn't like the end result.Jo suggested I paint it all in concrete and start again..which I did.
I stenciled the diamond pattern randomly all over the box using grunge paste and let that dry. I then stamped mini 96 with embossing ink and used utee to emboss. I then gave the whole box a coat of lake Wanaka..dried that and just started dry brushing with Antarctica and honey dew. I do love the texture of the embossing along with the grunge paste so thanks for that Jo..I finished off with some treasure gold around the edges and slightly over the embossing.I just wish we had been able to get more boxes..All I need to do now is fill it with bellies!!

Swanstitch challlenge

It's time for the September challenge over on the Artyinklings blog...you can read all about it here..

Anita did a lovely canvas and asked us to do our own interpretation of it, and here is mine.

I didn't have a canvas as such so used a sheet of primed canvas from a book. I stuck it to a piece of grey board. I painted it with butternut, smoked paprika,claret,haystack and pumpkin soup frescos. I layered and blended them until I was happy with the background. I cut a dress form using a sizzix die out of some this plastic I got from paper chase can't think what it's called. I mixed some grunge paste with black paint and stenciled it onto the canvas. I also used another stencil up in the corner with plain grunge paste. When that was dry I put the stencil back over it but bumped it slightly to get a white shadow effect.
Using a mask I went around the dress form with a different stencil, then went over the whole canvas again with the original colours. I stamped some script and dots on the dress, randomly over the canvas and added a bow. I used Florentine treasure gold to highlight the stand on the dress form Stamped a quote with a Wendy Vechi stamp and added some small black pearls up in the corner. Edged the canvas with little black dress and done!!

Chalkboard

Well it's Darcy's last week as GD over on the paper artsy blog and what a week it was!!! Her first project of the week was a lovely chalkboard...you can pop over and see it here. I loved the project and thought I definitely wanted to have a go..also want to have a go at all the lovely projects she rustled up this week..the patchwork paper here...and the fabric book is to die for..but need to find some jeans to cut up!!! you can see it here..well you should just go over and see all of it from here because she even designed some gorgeous stamps!!!


For my chalkboard I used a bingo clipboard which I had picked up ages ago in one of those pound shops.. I painted it all over in little black dress, Then I coloured some grunge paste with guacamole and stenciled the leaves up the side. I then painted in some hey pesto and green olives.

After seeing Darcy's new stamps it gave me an idea what to put on the leaves as I didn't really want flowers because the board is a bit small. I bought some great molds at Stevenage earlier this month and one of them has a cute little heart..so I made some light weight paper clay hearts and painted them with claret and london bus frescos..they were stuck on along the vine. I made a banner with some calico and painted it with haystack. This was all assembled onto the board and little paper clay bumble bee.
I made a loop from grunge paper to hold the chalk...and done.

Pencil Case???

Well this is Carol's last week on the Paper Artsy blog and her first project was to alter a pencil box...I didn't have an unused one so decided to recycle...you can see Carol here..and very nice it is too!!

I followed along with what Carol did but used a different stencil and put lace and ribbon around finished box with some pearls. Not sure what I will use it for yet....

Time does not change us...

Each Saturday Leandra is doing a special video with different techniques and this week it was using grunge paste..you really should go over and watch the video here...I actually saw Leandra demoing this at Stevenage last Sunday but if you weren't there it really is worth watching..

Here is my version of what she did..

I couldn't find the white coated grey board that I bought last week,,hmmm have put it somewhere safe!! so I used a 5x7 canvas. I used the same techniques so won't bore you with a step by step. I cut the big Tim Holtz clock die and painted it with inky pool and when that dried I scraped on a really thin layer of crackle glaze..then sponged a thin layer of eggplant and sanded it back a bit when it was all dry. I stuck it to the canvas and cut off the overhang, used a bit of what was left for the opposite corner. the quote was stamped onto crackly tissue paper with black archival...

Just slap it on!!

This week on the Paper Artsy blog one of the special birthday guests was the very talented Michelle Webb. She did an absolutely stunning piece..you can pop over and see it here. I didn't have a plywood frame or the gorgeous Jofy stamps she used so had to do my own version. I did however just slap it all on in the nicest possible way of course!! and here it is...

I followed along with what Michelle did...well after a fashion with the just slap it on technique.. I didn't like the way my crackle turned out down the side so sanded it all back to distress it as much as possible. When I was happy with the background I added the stamps from Jofy10 and painted them with fresco paints. I then stenciled on the grass and bird cages and painted them. I roughly went over the stamps with a black pen to bring them to the front again..The branches and birds were also painted in with fresco and the cages just had a light rub with white fire and pewter treasure gold. I went around the edge very lightly with onyxite treasure gold.

A much needed tray!!

Over on the Paper Artsy blog Sue Carrington has just finished her last week as a GD and what a fantastic week it has been!!! On the last day Sue did a beautiful box you should go check it out here.

I had bought this little tray from the MDF man at AP in April I think it was...so thought I would use the inspirtion from Sue's box to paint it for all our keys as everyone just comes in the house and chucks them on the side!!!

I started off by painting it all in snowflake.Then  I then put some grunge paste in a couple of the corners just roughly and then added some crackle glaze all over the rest of it. Next I sponged sage and tinned peas all over,I used the sponge as I only wanted tiny cracks. Then I roughed it up a bit more with sandpaper.
I use the bingo stencil with snowflake and coffee archival to stamp the text and the swirly stamp.I then added some chocolate pudding randomly over the tray for some contrast.

I die cut a memory box label  and distressed it a bit with paint and did the same with the key. I had a little metal frame which I painted in sage and stamped a no 2 as that is our door number. Everything was stuck on using glossy accents. Lastly I brushed onyxite treasure gold around the edges..

Beauty

This week over on the Paper Artsy blog we have GD Sue Carrington wowing us with her last week of projects, and what a week it has been!! You should pop over here with a cuppa and read through all the lovely projects. The inspiration for this one was on day one. I loved the colours she used so chose the same and followed along with what Sue did.
I didn't have the same frame so had to change things around a bit but the principle is the same. I also did different embellishments but really enjoyed having a go at this!!

     I wasn't sure if it was missing something so I added the flower.....

Happy Sunday to you all!! I haven't blogged for a week which is naughty as I have been off of work so should have had plenty of time..

As a lot of you know Leandra over at paper artsy has started off a new round of #3up...so I think most of us have been playing around with that...but enough said it is all hush hush and all will be revealed at the end of the month..

So yesterday as I had finished (I think) my project..I went out in my shed to finish off some pages in my moleskine...and here are the results!

All of the pages are done using fresco paints and mainly paper artsy stamps. I must say I had a very enjoyable afternoon getting very painty and inky!! Love my moleskine!!!

Do not go...

I started this page ages ago..believe or not it started off pale green after adding torn pieces of old book pages..and then I kinda got carried away. It has layers of Guacamole,butternut,autumn fire and a teensy bit of zesty zing.

 

 I stamped and stenciled in between the layers with olive green archival and then stenciled the tree using Grunge paste I had coloured with stone fresco. I then painted over the trees with french roast went around the edges with a white pen and stamped some Jofy grassy things from her no10 plate in olive archival..and edged the pages in the same colour.
Lastly I stamped the quote by Ralph Waldo Emmerson on strips of card and stuck them on the page. I couldn't get a good piccie of this page..the photo doesn't show the colours as they really are..

Stretch your wings

On day two over on the Paper Artsy blog this week France Papillon did a great journal page with a brilliant technique with grunge paste, you can see it here. It encouraged me to get my moleskine out and have a go. Well I tried the grunge paste technique and it didn't work for me...may have been the stencil I was using and then I realized didn't have enough Grunge paste left to try again..so this is how it ended up...


I painted both pages in green olives and dried it off then put crackle glaze through a large diamond stencil let that dry and added a layer of honey dew. There are crackles on there honest..you just can't see them will all the layers. I continued adding different layers using south pacific,guacamole and limelight..sorry can't remember all the colours.


I used the script stamp from Backgrounds2 and stamped in coffee archival.

I made my own stencil using the Paper Artsy dragonfly die and as I have already mentioned was not very successful so stenciled it straight onto the page with the tiny bit of  grunge paste I had left..(colored with guacamole). The image is from Wings 3 and was stamped in black archival..I followed along with what France did and made a little pocket with a tag. I stamped the dragonflies from hot pick 0019 all over the page with walnut stain distress and when dry painted them with watered down snowflake. I drew roughly around the edge with a white gel pen. I added some rubs on's to the wings and some gems to the center of the dragonfly. stamped the quote onto some strips of paper and added them to the page.
The stamped pocket was added to the opposite page with some lace underneath. Lastly I went around both pages with some coffee archival...

First page in my moleskine

On day 3 this week France did a lovely page in her small moleskine using grunge paste and gauze, so I thought perfect time to start mine.. You can see Frances version here..

I used the same technique with bandages from our first aid box...I hope you can see it properly the texture is brilliant and just shows how sharp the grunge paste is.




  I painted layers of butternut,blood orange,and london bus using the brush strokes both ways.

I coloured some grunge paste using beach hut and a touch of south pacific and used it through the diamond stencil.

When all this was dry I die cut the primitive heart from a PA die using the left over gauze and painted it red. I die cut LOVE from tissue and stuck it on.




I used various cw stencils and stamps to fill in the gaps on the page and knocked it back with snowflake. Added another layer of blood orange randomly over the pages, and stamped a small script stamp in black archival. I used a small alphabet stamp for the wording..used a black pencil to put a shadow around the heart and done...
It has been great having France with us this week..great projects!!

Day One with France Papillon

I know I have done this weeks projects in the wrong order but I really wanted to make one of the spools as I had time before work and they are such fun to make. So my second project this week is my version of Frances' Intimate Journal..you can see how she did it here...




 I followed Frances' instructions with the crunchy wax paper and fresco paints. I then added some grunge paste around the edges to give a bit more texture.. I added more paint with cut n dry..beach hut and hey pesto and a bit of french roast around the edges..








I watered down some french roast and coloured a piece of burlap to put down the side to hide the binding rings.. I also coloured a piece of lace adding some hey pesto. This was stuck on down the side of the book along with some leafy trim.



I cut some mini gears from a Tim Holtz die and embossed them with distress. Added some metal washers and fasteners.
I used some Sarah Naumann stamps for the title which was stamped on smoothy card and torn around the edges then sewn onto some crackly tissue..and there you have it...
