Journal page inspired by Linda Cain

I am definately early with my paper artsy challenge this week as tomorrow I am off to see some of my lovely crafting buddies for a class with Lin Brown, I hope she's ready lol!!. Before I go I wanted to blog my page. You can see Linda's here. her page really jumps out at you..not sure if I am happy with mine...but too late now. So here it is using frescos, paper artsy stamps and stencils and black and white pens...

You may be able to spot a few mistakes where I had to wash off the heart leaves and try again..but I suppose that's just another layer!

Darcy's journal page challenge..

This is the first time that I have actually had the time to finish one of Darcy's challenge pages. I really loved the page this month (not that I didn't like the others!) I loved the colours and the way it seemed to flow and that was my inspiration..all those different techniques on two pages, loved the way they all came together.
I managed to follow all but a couple of the techniques..Embossing and painting on metal card, creating sprays from frescos, making a stencil from a handprint, adding punch outs, doodling outlines, cutting a recess in the pages, and using metal working tools..phew a lot of techniques! I used a slighly different colour pallette to Darcy, you can read the step by step right here

Stampboard Charm

Hi everyone!! where's the sun gone!!! It's a wee bit windy here today and I think we will definately see some rain...good old Englsh weather..typical on the weekend.

This week I have made a charm from stampboard. My inspiratiion was the lovely piece Helen Chilton did over on the Paper Artsy blog this week. You can pop over and see it here.

I used 3 pieces of stampboard one inch square...I picked a few translucent colours from my freco paints..london bus, tango, yellow submarine, chatreuse and hey pesto. I layered them on until I was happy with the colour. Next I took the stamp ith the three beautiful ladies from LP006 and inked it up with black stazon. I laid the stampboard onto the stamp to ensure that I only got the part of the image I wanted.

I scraped just a bit of the paint off to reveal the white underneath, and then used tiny screw eyes and rings to attach them all together and added some fibres to the top

I had forgotton how much fun stampboard is to work with.

Inspiration from Keren Baker

Over on the Paper Artsy blog this week one of the GD was Keren Baker. On day one she did a lovely piece called Tea Bag lady. You can pop over and see it here. Well worth the visit!

I took inspiration from Keren for my piece. I wanted to try and keep it as simple as possible. I cut a piece of grey board and painted it in snowflake...put it aside to dry. I painted a piece of smooth card with nougat as my base and stamped the girl from LP022 in black archival. I stamped again in vermillion archival and cut out the cheeks and the lips to layer over the original image. Using a sharp craft knife I removed pieces from the image randomly. After cutting out the main image (leaving a small border around the edge) I cut another piece of card to go underneath and rubbed the vermilllion ink pad over it. When that was dry I gave it two coats of gloss glaze added some glossy accents to the lips and some blue promarker around her eyes. I used some 3d foam to stick the two pieces together.

For the background I used a piece of the new tissue paper that paper artsy have and brayered a mixture of frescos..layering them after each one was dry. Nougat, snowflake, blood orange, london bus, beach hut and eggplant. I then used nougat to stamp randomly over the background and vermillion and black for the small splatter staps from HPxtra01.

To finish off I used a selection of gems and pearls and framed it with black archival...not my usual colours but really enjoyed this one!!

A little bit of peeled paint

Good afternoon everyone..my post is a bit early this week as I am off to Stamperama in stevenage to meet up with some fellow Patwits and a tiny bit of crafty shopping...
This week over on the Papaer Artsy blog among others we had GD Liesbeth Fidder. She did a beautiful hanging board using the peeled paint technique. I knew I wanted to have a go at this!! So I found myself a 5x7 canvas and got to work. I followed along with Liesbeth...you can see how she did it here. Although I loved the colours she had used I thought I'd go with the green frescos..honeydew,sage,and seaweed.

I used the same colours for the tag. Instead of vaseline I was going to use some textureizing clay (for hair stolen from my son) but in the end used microglaze by judikins.I mixed brown shed with cinnamon to paint over the top..loved the colour. Followed the instructions from Liesbeth added a feather and some flowers painted black and dusted with green amber treasure gold. I also added a tiny bit of copper frantage just around the edges and that's it!
