Metal Flower inspired by Lin Brown

Two posts in one day!! talk about last minute lol..My second piece this month for the Papaer Artsy blog was inspired by Lin Brown. I absolutely love her metal work and missed out on every class she did at her shop!! But I was dertermined to have a go at her project this month. You can pop over and see Lin's here I didn't have the stencil she used so chose another flower with a long stem as I knew I was going to put in on a bigger piece of chip board. Earlier this month Lelania Lloyd did a wall hanging where she stamped into grunge paste and I decided that was what I wanted to do with my base. you can see her post here. I used the script stamp from SN10..(love this script) I followed along with what Lin did with the metal but probably missed some of it as I don't have my pc near where I play..

I did use one of Lin's new paint colours..Marlin and I love it!!

.
When it was all put together I added some white fire treasure gold and wrapped some cream coloured string around the middle with a bow finishing it off. Loved doing this and will definately be playing with the metal a lot more!!

Paper Transfer bunting..

It's all change over on the paper artsy blog this month!! instead of a weekly challenge we have a monthly challenge. As it has given us a lot longer to come up with our creations you would think I would be able to get sorted before the last day??? wrong!!! We have had an array of fantastic projects again this this month..all very inspiring but you can't do them all!! well I wouldn't have the time to..

My lovely friend Lucy came up with a great idea experimenting with paper transfer onto canvas! It was very very clever...you can pop over and see her blog post here. Well I decided I wanted to have a play around with her idea so transfered some of my chatsworth paper onto some thin egyptian cotton. Going along with Lucy's instructions was really very easy although a wee bit messy. I used my craft scrubbie instead of my finger for a lot ot it...when it was finished I wanted to sew something with it so thought I would have a play around with some bunting. I cut the pieces but when I tried to sew the glue from the double sided tape clogged up the needle!! ooops!! so out came the glue and it all gor stuck together.

It really is a great idea..the paper once on the fabric didn't feel like paper at all!! So thanks Lucy I will be playing around with this tecnique quite a lot!

Thanks for stopping by..........................

What have I been up to....

I have been off from work for the last two weeks but haven't had much time to go out in my shed and play. Where did all that time go!! Warning pretty long post so crab a cuppa or something stronger...

Well on the bank holiday weekend Helen,Emma,Sam Lesley and I all met up and went off to Lin Browns house where Karen joined us for a two day class. It wasn't supposed to be there but that is another story lol...

I only took a few piccies (too busy gabbing probably) but Sam and Helen did so you could pop over to their blogs..here and here. Sam and Helen have both blogged 2 days!! We had a fantastic time..and played with so many different mediums it was a lotta lotta fun!!

I finally managed to finish my first project from the saturday so here a few piccies of my Lynne Perella book...

That book was a lot of fun using all the LP stamps fresco paints a few other stamps slung in, some embellishments and rub ons.

A couple of days after we came back my lovely daughter Sam turned 40!! imagine that lol..I am very proud of my darling girl she works hard and is a fantastic mother to my three grandsons..her boys are her everything xx She had a little trip up to Scotland to see friends for her birthday treat but I wanted her to have a bit of a surprise too. I always try to make her something..so I bought a plain wooden mirror and did this to it.....using frescos in sage, irish cream, snowflake and french roast..it has loads of layers, grunge paste embellishments you name it it's on there!! She loved it though..

This is a part of her birthday card..she loved it!!
And here she is with her three boys...

And seeing as it's not very often that I get both my two sat at the same table here is a piccie of Sam and Rhys with Rhys' girlfriend Bryony with my dad just at the side of them...

Then finally on Saturday Helen and I took a trip to London to do a Charles Dickens walk through the Borough, finishing at London bridge..very interesting and a lot of fun. When that finished we walked back over the river and sat and had some lunch before paying a visit to the Tower of London. We had a fantastic and exhausting day..but soooo worth it!! I forgot to take my camera so if you want to see all the piccies pop over to Helen's blog where she will tell you all about it just here.

I got some brushos and managed to have a quick play with those...

I also managed to make a birthday card for a fellow patwit but can't show that because she hasn't got it yet.
Well that's it for now..back to work in a couple of days..thanks for stopping by........
