Inspiration from Keren Baker

Over on the Paper Artsy blog this week one of the GD was Keren Baker. On day one she did a lovely piece called Tea Bag lady. You can pop over and see it here. Well worth the visit!

I took inspiration from Keren for my piece. I wanted to try and keep it as simple as possible. I cut a piece of grey board and painted it in snowflake...put it aside to dry. I painted a piece of smooth card with nougat as my base and stamped the girl from LP022 in black archival. I stamped again in vermillion archival and cut out the cheeks and the lips to layer over the original image. Using a sharp craft knife I removed pieces from the image randomly. After cutting out the main image (leaving a small border around the edge) I cut another piece of card to go underneath and rubbed the vermilllion ink pad over it. When that was dry I gave it two coats of gloss glaze added some glossy accents to the lips and some blue promarker around her eyes. I used some 3d foam to stick the two pieces together.

For the background I used a piece of the new tissue paper that paper artsy have and brayered a mixture of frescos..layering them after each one was dry. Nougat, snowflake, blood orange, london bus, beach hut and eggplant. I then used nougat to stamp randomly over the background and vermillion and black for the small splatter staps from HPxtra01.

To finish off I used a selection of gems and pearls and framed it with black archival...not my usual colours but really enjoyed this one!!
