masterboards

The last challenge over on the paper artsy blog this year is masterboards. there have been some lovely pieces by Leandra and all the designers..pop over here and have a look. Leandra has also put a video on.

So I had a little bit of time between other swops and work so managed just one masterboard...not sure what I will do with it yet...

So being inspired by Leandra's video I used snowflake..chalk..stone,,antartic..and blue oyster fresco paints and started layering until I was happy with it...stamped the tress with archival...then added a bit more chalk..I stamped some snowflakes and added a little bit of sparkle to the trees with a gellyroll pen...

And there you have it...thanks for stopping by.................

Triptych

Can you believe we are on topic 20 already over on the paper artsy blog...20!! As you can see by my title it's all about the triptych...so pop over to PA and have a looksie here...some beautiful samples as usual.

Well I got some time to have a go so here we are...

I started off with a little set of three wooden frames that have been laying around in my workshop for aaaages! So I painted them with a mixture of haysack.little brown shed and french roast frescos.

I cut a strip of smooth white card and coated it with one of Lin's colours..mint green...such a lovely soft colour. Next I had a bit of a play with some bistres and embossing powder. I dropped some on the card tapering out towards the top and sprited with water..then added some embossing powder and dropped some more bistres on top..then clear embossing powder on top of that. While it was still hot and sticky I added more bistres and ultra thick enamel and reheated.

I then got out the frantage and added some white and copper. I brushed copper treasure gold on the frames randomly and dry brushed some metal charms the same colour. I cut the card to fit the frames added the charms and voila!

Faces

So topic 19 on the PaperArtsy blog is faces.....oh no most of us said I can't draw!! me included..but I was determined to have a go. I had stumbled across the Dina wakely video that Leandra had blogged about a few weeks ago and had a little practise on a couple of betting slips at work. You should pop over to the blog and have look at some the of the great faces on there..just here

I had a gelli plate journal that my lovely friend sam had made me and was holding off using it until I found somethig special to do with it. My inspiration for my face was a picture leandra had pinned from westbrook fine art...so I found a suitable page and sketched out the face in pencil. I coloured in the eyes and lips and then erased a lot of the outline to the face. I stamped various paper artsy minis in black archival and dry brushed some chalk paint randomly over the page

I couldn't get a decent piccie due to the light but really enjoyed this so will definately be playing around with some more faces..it's not brilliant but not too bad for a newbie

Topic 18 wearable art...

The topic this time is wearable art over on the paper artsy blog....and as usual some great stuff..pop over here and have a look...

I started a couple of pieces last week and although one was finished and one nearly finished..I just haven't had the time to blog. So here goes..not a long post as I have a stinking cold and my eyes keep blurring lol..sneezing etc..you know how it is...

I started out with a metal heart and painted it in snowflake.I stuck on some patterened tissue paper and when that was dry I added a wash of snowflake over the top then stamped some script in black archival.
.Next I added some metal embellishments and a little resin bird. When all the glue was dry I added  blues and greens Lindy's samp gang sprays. When they were dry I scraped on some bead gel in random places...you may be able to see it if you enlarge the piccie.

I dry brushed some snowflake over the embellishments and when that was dry I sprinkled on some blue bistres and sprayed with some watered down gum arabic.

Lastly a ring through the top and threaded some ribbon...finished!

ATC

As I explained in the last post the paper arsty theme this time is pigments. I have been making AC's today for a swop I am in so used my brusho again!! love them...

After cutting the ATC I sprinkled someyellow and red brushos...with a tiny touch of natural. When I had sprtzied that with gum arabic and dried it off I stamped a heart in embossing ink and used a clear powder to form a resist.  I then gave it a wash with snowflake fresco and when that was dry I used some tissue with a hot iron to melt the embossing powder and leave the colours of the pigments underneath. I did the same with the ART stamp, cut it out and stuck it on. This really is simple but very effective

Pigments

The topic this time over on the paper artsy blog is pigments. There are some fantastic samples and videos right here

As most of you know Ally Pally was on last weekend and what a great time we had...not only is it a chance to spend all your pennies on crafty bits but a good catch up with crafty friends.

I was keen to have a look at the bistre pigmants that I knew Leandra would have on her stand as I tried to get some of these some time ago before I bought my brushos but couldn't find any in this country...but now they are here lol. I like my brushos but love the grungy...vintagy look of the bistres..they all have a brown undertone!! So I wanted to have a play today..this has been my first chance to spend any length of time in my shed.Soooo

I roughly painted a canvas with gesso and sprinkled on some yellow and red bistre powder. I had mixed some gum arabic in a spray bottle with water so that they would be a bit less water soluble...and they were..

When that was dry I scraped a thick layer of dreamweaver translucent embossing paste all over...this really makes the colours pop.

While that was drying I stamped and cut out a heart and quote and coloured them using aged mahogony distress ink. I edged the canvas with little black dress and added a touch of ruby treasure gold. Once everything was dry I stuck in onto the canvas with foam tape..voila

I really do like these bistres...if you are at port sunny pop over to the paper artsy stand and have a look

Circles

Hi everyone! I have neglected my blog terribly lately..but have just not much of a chance lately. Had a big family wedding which was fantastic and my sister came home from the states for 3 weeks so that took up much of the summer...by the time I had a couple of weeks hols from work I was shattered !! so have spent a couple of weeks doing Nothing!! and I've loved it lol...

So this morning I thought I would have a go at the PA challenge which is circles this time. You can pop over here to have a look at where it all kicked off. As usual there was soo many lovely projects over the last 2 weeks. I really liked the Limor webber video that Leandra posted on the blog and this is my take on it...

I couldn't even begin to walk through what I did because I just played around with a load of circles for and hour. There are so many different medias on here. Fresco paint.dylusion paint..lindy's sprays and the pan pastels came out too as did the shaprie pencils. I just kept on adding the layers until I thought stop now!!

I am hoping to get myself sorted enough to get back into the swing of things and blog a bit more.

Words

Topic 9 on the paper artsy blog is 'words'..some beutiful work going on over there as usual you can pop over and have a looksie here...loads and loads to look at.

I just wanted to do a journal page just simple with different layers of paints and a few well chosen words.

First I coated both papes with gesso and started adding layers or paint using fresco, metalic paints and sprays. I had already printed on the pens at a class with Lin Brown last year with some screens...I'm sorry I can't remeber what they are called. When all the paints and sprays were dry I used snowflake fresco to stamp some text randomly over the page and then different stencils for the words. Then touches of snowflake around the edges to frame it. I love these colurs together they remind me summer may be on its way lol...

more sprays and a journal page

Having another play around with sprays this time in my journal which has been neglected lately. I used Andy Skinners sprays in yellow red and turquoise. When they were dry they looked a bit too bright so I took a thin piece of tissue and stamped some script in black archival ink. When this was dry I covered both pages with it.

Next I die cut some hearts, an arch and some wings from ramdom dies. I also picked up some bits and pieces laying around on my desk and painted them all in black. I used black texture past on some, grunge on some of the other pieces and some white crackle paint. when all the pieces were dry I sprayed them with perfect pearls and let it dry puddled in all the little nooks and crannys.

I chose my quote: No Beauty shines brighter than a good heart...how true is that and I am very lucky to have quite a few beautiful people in my life.

Everything was stuck into place and I went around some of it with my pitt big brush pen (love these pens!)
I am entering this into the paper artsy challenge which you can pop over and see here..it's worth a look as there is some great inspiration over there!

Just spray it on..

Good morning blogland! Happy sunday to you all.The current theme over on the paper artsy blog is sprays. Now I have quite an assortment of sprays and I expect most of you do too..(just wish more companies would make permanent ones!!) You can pop over to the PA blog here and see what Leandra has to say and her video explaining all the different kinds of sprays you can get or make for yourself. just here.

So out came a 5x7 canvas and as I love Finnebairs work did a finn canvas.. First of all I added some texture using some grunge paste and texture paste using a selection of stencils and micro beads.

I die cut a heart from some corrugated card, bird and some gears, also some wings and lace trim from various dies. I arranged them all on the canvas added some flowers from my stash and played around with it until I was happy and stuck it all down. then a coat of white gesso. Now the sprays! when I tell you it has had layer and layers of spray I am not exaggerating lol!! It has had gold, copper orange..all sorts and I just didn't like it. It ended up with a mixture of blues and greens from lindy's stamp gang and cramel apple glimmer mist.

I then took the sepia and coffee archival inkpads and ran them over the raised parts.Little touches of onyxite treasure gold and voila!

Don't forget to Fly

Been having a play this afternoon and decided to make another niche to enter into the paper artsy challenge...you can see all the details here

I started off with a tiny tin..painted it white and purple. I made a little angel charm to stand in the tin and put wings on the back. Decorated it with some embellishments and lace..some treasure gold and voila!! finished. I am sorry this is such a short post but I was about to miss the deadline...what's new you ask!!

This is a little gift for my daughter who loves Angels

A Little Niche

Had a lovely weekend last week mainly spent in my shed, I haven't had that much time to just play around with inks and paints for ages!! I decide I would do a little niche to enter into the paper artsy challenge topic 7 which you can pop over and see here

I have lots of the little boxes from the Tim Holtz configuration boxes so thought I would use one of those...they are really dinky so a little bit fiddly but a lot of fun. It started off like this...

I cut a Tim Holtz pediment for the top.I painted it inside and out with black gesso..let that dry and added a layer of crackle glaze. Once the was dry I painted over with elelphant and let the crackle do its thing..I did the same to the pediment and stuck it to the top of the box. I used black texture paste to stencil on the sides....

Now time to fill the box...

I had a little metal cameo frame, added a vintage piccie to it and stuck it to a large white flower. The frame was painted black and just touched with some silver treasure gold. Next I made another frame using some paper clay with one of my modge podge molds..painted that black and finished it with treasure gold too.To this I added a little metal birdcage. Stuck some buttons in front with a little fob watch leaning on it. The little book is also a mold I have and is made from paperclay too, painted and added some book pages. Lastly I painted a wooden heart and stuck it to the pediment.

It's all about the texture

I must apologise for being a very lazy blogger again!! I just don't seem to get the time lately...my dad has just had surgery and at 80 it's a bit worrying and 2 weeks ago we had a horrible upset at home which I am not really ready to talk about...soon.

Anyway I had started my project for the Paper Artsy blog..Altered grunge or any kind of texture.you can pop over and see it here

                                  This in my contribution

I started off by cutting out two lots of die cut from Tim Holtz artful dwellings I love this die but don't use it enough. So out came all the supplies that could create texture. First I took a piece of card and stencilled some grunge paste. I coloured this using fesco paints, frantage and my white spray from decoart. I used a combination of grunge paste, extra thick gesso, ferro. and texture sand. I used a mixture of stencils and scrapey tools to get a different look on each little house. They were then stuck onto the card with some cogs which had been triple embossed and a little black bird. I added some of the inches from my miniature art and some vintage images to put into the windows. I finished it off with some treasure gold and black archival ink around the edges.

Tiny Treasures

We had a great theme over on the paper artsy blog this time and there is so much lovely artwork to browse through and a video..you can pop over here and have a look.

I got the stampboard out and found three tiny pieces I believe 1x1 inch. I coloured them using alcohol inks and them stamped three Lynn Perella faces onto them with Stazon. I love these stamps they are definitely amongst my favs!!

When they were dry I scratched some little bits away to reveal they clay but you can't really see it in the piccies. I then triple embossed with utee then edged them with florentine treasure gold I was going to string these together but decided to keep them to add to other projects..

Miniature Art

I absolutely loved the theme for Paper Artsy this time..I just wish I had had more time to do some more tiny treasures...that's not to say I won't lol..

I loved the dominoes that Leandra had on her little video and have a nosey around you tube..I was going to do a book but decided on a tiny photo frame instead. This will be winging it's way to the USA in the week as the gorgeous little girls in the frame are my sisters grandaughters.

I started off by dabbing alcohol ink onto the dominoes and let that dry.I then coated it with glossy accents. when that was dry I added the filigree pieces to the front and back before adding some gems.

I flaffed around trying to get the photos to a size that would fit the dominoes without cutting their heads off and printed them out. I made a little folder to mount them onto before sticking them into the dominoes which also acted as a hinge.

I rubbed green amber treasure gold around all the edges and along the seam of the hinge and stuck the photos in using red tape. I used bead caps as little feet

I managed to dig out a little clasp from my stash to act as a lock and stuck that on with tacky glue.
I do apologise for the poor quality piccie but the light was awful when I got the camera out!!

I really have enjoyed this miniature art and can't wait to do some more..I have a feeling I may be getting a call from my other sister lol

Paint

Well here I am again last minute Lil lol. The challenge on the paper artsy blog this time is paint...so out came the frescos! Pop over here and take a look...some beautiful artwork as usual!!

I didn't have a lot of time this week to go out to my shed so nipped out this afternoon to have a play with a tag and some fresco paints....I forgot to take the camera out so didn't get step by step piccies sorry :(.

I started with a large prima tag and gave it a wash with snowflake. when that was dry I watered down some beach hut and hey pesto...two of my favourite colours. Using a big brush I made puddles of the paint drying the layers in between. When I was happy with that layer I got a stencil with different sizes of circles and scrapped some crackle glaze through them. When that was dry I sponged mint over the top. Some of the cracks came out better than others. I added another watered down wash of beach hut over the top. Then stencilled another pattern randomly using snowflake.
I stamped the branches from HP1008 in beach hut and the little dots from HPex 01 and the dragonfly from HP1109 in green archival ink. I shabbyed up the edges and dabbed some green olives on to frame the tag.
I had some acetate butterflies I bought last year from Ally Pally so cut 3 of those out and coloured them with alcohol inks..heated them up and bent the wings back..stuck them onto the tag.
The quotes are from my new Finn stamps...

I love the way the puddles of paint look on the tag..the crackled circles look good too although you can't really see them that well in the piccie. It was nice to spend an hour or so throwing some paint around instead of cooking or housework!!

Shiny things

Because of all the new scrummy releases over on the paper artsy blog this week we have had an extra week to play with shiny things. I decide to make a large tag which I think I will use as the cover for a tag book. I was inspired by Penny Nuttalls book cover which you can see here.

I spread matt medium all over a no 10 tag and used my brayer as Penny did to spread some paper clay over most of it leaving some of the tag bare..I then stamped into it using the collage stamp from LP030

Next I painted it over with black gesso and dried it with my heat gun.....

I rubbed a versamark pad all over so that the mica powders would sick and started added colour randomly with five different mica powders

I spritzed it with some water and let that dry then spritzed it with perfect pearls and left some of it to puddle..

When it was dry I touched up some of the raised areas with florentine and copper treasure gold..

                                              The finished tag

Shiny Stuff

Can you believe it's february already!!! where does the time go??? I really have been a bad blogger lately but life seems to have taken oven (and it's freezing in my shed) even with 2 heaters!!.
We are now into the second challenge on the Paper Artsy blog this year Shiny Stuff. There has been some lovely projects from the design team again and this book cover was inspired by Pam Thorburn you can pop over and see it here.

My book started out looking like this just a cheap notebook from sainsbury's with craft paper inside.

Next I added die cuts, plasterers tape and a charm from my stash just randomly over the cover and let it dry.

Then I added the very sticky plummers tape and smoothed it all down with a large paper stump, making sure to go around all the shapes

Next I painted the whole thing in little black dress and left it to dry

When dry I added seaweed and dusty teal. When that was dry I rubbed back all the raised areas and carefully (well kind of ) added green amber and a limited edition Treasure Gold which is a lime green colour. when that dried I buffed it all and added some gems to make it a bit more 'shiny' and used my black big brush pen around the word art and smudged it..

All Change

Over on the Paper Artsy blog it's all change again..new start for a new year. It will now be a two weekly challenge and the first one is Fragile papers...Leandra did a fantastic post and video which you can check out here. I have loved all the posts and have been enjoying all the different ways people are coming up with to use all different paper...here is my contribution...

I started off using an old gardening book which I started to alter on a class with Lin Brown. I have almost finished it now but still a few pages to go. So I thought seeing as it is quite an old book that would class as fragile papers..I have also used some very old pages from a German book which literally falls to pieces when you touch it! some TH tissue wrap, some crackly tissue paper and wax paper...

After giving the pages a coat of gesso I started adding bits of the different papers and some grunge paste and crackle paste to give it some texture...

I then painted on some beach hut and added water so that it dripped and ran all over the page...next chatreuse and a touch of Autumn fire
I stamped the little girl stamp onto tissue paper and tore around the edges and then stuck it onto an old bookpage and tore around that curling the edges. I stamped the sentiment onto crackley tissue paper and tore each word out before sticking it to the page with matt medium. I used the prima sanding tool to knock back the grungepaste and edged the papes in black archival...done
